Ways to Tighten Abdominal Skin Besides a Tummy Tuck

It’s no secret that as you shed those pounds, your skin also loosens. Don’t worry! I have four tips for anyone worried about loose skin during their weight loss process.

First, don’t lose weight too quickly.

There are a number of factors on top of weight loss that contribute to you skins elasticity such ass age, nutrition, excessive sun, smoking, and dehydration.  If you experience any of these factors along with your weight loss it is important to avoid crash dieting and excessive exercise. When you lose fat and muscle quickly, your skin does not have time to adjust and lacks the muscular structure to be held against your body.

Your goal should be to lose between one and two pound a week.  Along with the weight loss you want to focus on building muscle as well to replace the lost fat; thus, keeping your skin firm and against your body as much as possible.

Second, stay hydrated.

Water is probably the most important element in keeping your skin’s elasticity at an optimal level. Whether you obtain water from food or drink, a healthy amount of water should be at least two liters per day.

Third, eat properly.

In order to skin elastic, a diet of protein-rich foods that contain collagen and elastin forming components is crucial. Examples of these foods are milk, legumes, tofu, seeds, beans, cottage cheese, and fish. These foods will help the production of collagen and elastin in the body, as well as the necessary oils to maintain healthy looking skin. It is best to intake about 100 – 200 calories of protein immediately following a workout for optimum absorption.

Fourth, take care of your skin.

It is also important to take care of your skin with daily exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and improve skin circulation. Bathing in hot water with sea salts and minerals will improve your skin tone.
