Eyelid Surgery

The eyes are the focus of your face and one of the first characteristics people notice about you. When wrinkles, loose skin, dark circles and bags change the way you appear, they may hide your naturally vivid personality and make you look and feel less vibrant than you are. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can correct loose, puffy skin, and fat; subtly tightening your eyelids for a restored and rejuvenated appearance.

Utilizing the most innovative advancements in plastic surgery and passionate about providing his patients with the best possible care, Dr. Hovsepian uses his expertise and surgical skills to restore a more energetic, youthful and natural appearance. He recognizes the importance of minimizing scarring and utilizes minimally-invasive techniques.

Dr. Hovsepian emphasizes the importance of a comfortable and caring patient experience with a quick healing recovery. Learn more about your eyelid surgery options and how Dr. Hovsepian can support you in meeting your facial aesthetic goals when you request your consultation online or by telephone.

Common goals for eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) include:

  • Smooth and tighten loose, droopy, wrinkled eyelid tissues
  • Remove "puffy" fatty pockets either above or below the eye
  • Lift eyelid tissues so they no longer hide the natural lid crease or impede vision
  • Create a more open, positive and natural appearance

Upper Eyelid Surgery (Upper Blepharoplasty)

Upper eyelid sagginess has a variety of causes; Dr. Hovsepian will assess you carefully before recommending a surgical plan customized to your needs. Typically, patients will require this procedure because loose excess skin obscures their sight and diminishes the balance and aesthetics of their appearance. In some cases, loose eyelid tissues are caused by low eyebrows, and in this case Dr. Hovsepian may recommend a brow lift instead of eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), in order to target the cause of the problem more accurately. Lower Eyelid Surgery (Lower Blepharoplasty)

Most individuals naturally have a small fatty pocket at the lower eyelid, but for a variety of reasons in certain patients this fatty pocket is larger and more noticeable, creating under-eye "bags" that result in a tired appearance. This procedure can be corrected in a small, relatively simple outpatient procedure, and is easily combined with other procedures such as facelift, cheek lift, and injectable fillers. Learn More >

Droopy Eyelid Surgery (Ptosis)

Correction of droopy upper eyelids that impair vision (also known as ptosis) restores a smooth, natural contour to the upper eyelid. The procedure corrects a hooded upper eyelid and lifts the position of the eyelid margin which has dropped causing a tired appearance. Dr. Hovsepian uses very detailed, specialized techniques to reposition the upper eyelid, including reducing excess, obstructive skin and repositioning the muscles to create a natural-looking, brighter appearance to the eyelids. Eyelid surgery by Dr. Hovsepian requires only a small incision along the lash line or, in certain types of lower-eyelid surgery, a "scar-less" incision along the eyelid's inner surface. Dr. Hovsepian has extensive experience in facial cosmetic surgery and takes care to take a minimalistic approach in order to ensure healthy results and avoid removing excess tissue.
